Carla’s Story
Carla lives with her loving daughter Shaunti. Our volunteers have had the pleasure to get to meet them both when they deliver weekly Wings gifts and say hello. Shaunti said both she and her mom feel blessed by these gifts. Shaunti describes her mom as “a selfless God-fearing woman with a big heart,” and our volunteers agree. Their house is one of the favorite stops on our volunteer delivery route!
Carla is a woman of varied interests who enjoys crocheting blankets and watching sports. A shopping date? Absolutely! An opportunity for a mani/pedi with her daughter? A joy!
When Carla got too sick to be left alone, Shaunti quit her job to stay with her mother. Although this time together is precious to them both, it did put a financial strain on the family. Shaunti was facing the threat of foreclosure when her hospice social worker introduced her to Project 4031. We were able to contribute to her mortgage and keep the family in their home. Shaunti said, “Project 4031 helped my family save our home. Words can’t even describe how grateful we have been for everything they have done for our family.”
